Abstracting realities and realizing abstractions might be the best way to sum up Frankie Toan’s stimulating work. Also recognized by “F.e,” Toan has been making waves in Denver’s art scene since they relocated to Colorado in 2015.
With humble beginnings in Missouri, Toan recalls being interested in artistic forms and practices from an early age. Toan attributes Bob Cassilly’s City Museum in St. Louis to be their first introduction to repurposing and redefining what art is and what art can be. To those unfamiliar, the City Museum is an enormous, industrial art installation that adults and children alike can interact with that sits in the heart of St. Louis.
